Brynja from Feti. We bought Brynja when she was 2 years old from our friend Brynjar who owned Fet at that time. Our sole reason to begin with for wanting Brynja was because she was the daughter of her father! Haukur from Akurgerði. We bought Haukur as a foal, brought him up and trained him. Haukur is a unique horse. Of all the horses we have trained or known Haukur stands out. Here is a very short version of why we think so highly of Haukur,
One day when Haukur was on his 4th winter Bjössi decided it was time to start to train him.Haukur was in the stable and Bjössi began to practice Haukur to be shooed.. But after working with Haukur for less then 5 minutes Bjössi saw it would not be any problem shooing the horse. In less then one hour Haukur was shooed. He acted like a 10 year old that had all the experience in the world. We always give us much time for ground training, but this time we just wanted to see just how Haukur would react to some more training. Well, 10 minutes after Haukur had his shoes, Bjössi had put a saddle on him for the first time and was riding him in the fence! And soon he asked Bibi to open the gate, he and Haukur were going for a ride. And they did.. In one day Haukur was more trained then most horses in 2 months. Since then Haukur became a fantastic 4 gaited competition horse, winning medals in classes with children, teenagers and adults. Competing at the Icelandic Championships and Landsmot and reaching the finals in every competition. Great horse. Fantastic horse.
The mother of Brynja was Drangey from Glæsibær. A big and extremely beautiful mare. Drangey was trained when she was 4 year old but had an accident that was so bad she could not be ridden again. Drangey proved to be a very good breeding mare, giving wonderful temperament, big and beautiful offspring. Grótta from Litlu-Tungu is a daughter of Drangey. She was number 5 in tölt at the World Championship in Germany. We are now training a fantastic gelding from Drangey as well as her last offspring; Drangey younger, a beautiful chestnut pinto mare.
