We are not big breeders. Usually we get 4-6 foals each year. We do our best to pick the stallions we use carefully. What we look for in a stallion is good temperament, not to willing, we do not like “hot” horses. We also look for good conformation, especially good neck and shoulders, good legs and hoofs. As for riding abilities we go for good tölt and beautiful form under the saddle. We prefer 5 -gaited stallions, Nice colors are just a plus, we do not breed colors especially. But we do prefer colorful horses. We like our horses to be on the heavier side rather then light. josteinn_alfasteinn

We are using 5 mares in our basic breeding program. Some of their daughters have already had foals, but we do not breed them every year. They are such good riding horses .o).

Sandra from Kópavogi,, 1 prize for conformation, is our oldest breeding mare, She is 25 years old and is expecting a foal next year! She is truly remarkable, but she has been taken very good care of and she is repaying us by giving us a foal every year. She still looks extremely well and healthy, you can not believe her age if you see her. Sandra is a daughter of the lovable and great stallion; Adam from Meðalfelli. Her offspring have been very good horses. One of her daughters is a highly judged 1 prize mare, with 8,32. Most of her offspring are used as riding and competition horses. Their best quality is their wonderful temperament, plus they are big and beautiful horses.

Rakel from Hnjúki,, 1 prize mare, another daughter of Adam, 20 years. Rakel was used successfully in competitions for a number of years, with excellent tölt and flying-pace., She is now giving us wonderful offspring,

Brynja from Feti, we have had her since she was 2 year old. A mare that gives pinto offspring. We had her mother; Drangey from Glæsibær, she gave fantastic horses, and we also had the father of Brynja, the wonderful Haukur from Akurgerði. A stallion we could tell unbelievable stories. He was a unique horse regarding temperament and a great competition horse. Brynja is a proven top quality breeding mare.drangey_flott

Last summer we rented the beautiful Jósteinn from Votmúla, a 3 year old chestnut pinto stallion. Son of Álfsteinn from Selfossi and a 1 prize mare from Kirkjubær. Great looking stallion with wonderful movements. Look at the photo of Jósteinn and his father! We got 4 very beautiful foals from him this summer.

On the left: Drangey from Þúfu, now 4 year old. A future breeding mare. She is both big and very beautiful with fantastic riding abilities already. The color is not bad! Her mother is Drangey from Glæsibær, so she is the sister of Brynja and Grotta. Her father is 1 prize stallion Frægur from Flekkudalur. He is a son of Gustur from Hóli and Pytla from Flekkudalur, great breeding lines.

Sandra and some of her offspring. Her daughter; Kolfreyja from Þúfu has 8,32 in breeding evaluations. Her son Þokki from Þúfu is a top 5-gaited competition horse.
